Suddenly Mine Audible Audio Edition Samantha Chase Kevin T Collins LLC Dreamscape Media Books Reviews

  • Christian Montgomery has been working for the family business since he was fifteen-years old. After a personal debacle while in the London office, he now heads up their San Diego branch. He eats, breathes and sleeps work, with his very limited relaxation time consisting of sitting on his deck of his beachside home watching the cute, red-head try to surf, enjoying the fact that what skill she lacks she more than makes up for with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. When he has a health scare at work that lands him in the ER, Christian is surprised to learn that that same red-head, Sophie, is his company's new corporate nurse. Although they're attracted to each other, Sophie and Christian agree that keeping things “just friends" is best for their work relationship. Well, we all know how those famous last words always work out.

Chase does it again with this newest book in the Montgomery series, and I adored Christian and Sophie's story! On the surface it looks like the typical billionaire office romance, but this book is oh, so much more. Both Christian and Sophie have issues with secrets being kept from them, as well as unresolved issues with their fathers. Look beneath the meet-cute romance and you’ll see two characters who challenge each other but support each other as they work to sort through personal challenges and old wounds in order to become their best version of self. Christian works to discover who he is outside of work, and Sophie is one of the most upbeat, admirable heroines I’ve ever read, facing every challenge head-on.

Although Chase leaves the details to the reader's imagination, the chemistry between Sophie and Christian crackles and sparks. Their story is by turns humorous and heartfelt, and poignant and insightful, and it had me fully engaged every step of the way. I certainly don’t mind a little sexy times with my romance, but this book is just right exactly the way it is. It leaves the focus on two people learning, growing and choosing to change, leaving the lessons they learn to linger with the reader. Christian and Sophie's journey is full of passion, heart and emotion, and sure to please the romantic in all of us.

Suddenly Mine is the next book in Samantha Chase's Montgomery Brothers series. While this may be one of the later books in the series, if you haven't read the previous books, you can pick this one up and dive right in.

Christian Montgomery runs the San Diego branch of the family business, Montgomery Investments. He's always been driven and has worked nearly non-stop since he was a teenager. He currently lives in his cousin's beach house and the only form of relaxation he seems to enjoy is sitting on the deck drinking his coffee and watching the yogis and the surfers. There is one particular surfer, a red head, that he'd like to get to know better, but he just doesn't have the time with his work.

Sophie Bennington needed a change. All the things she thought she knew about things that happened in her childhood were a lie and the last thing she wanted was to stay in her hometown. She picked a new city, sight unseen and moved there. San Diego was the choice and she also decided to try new things, like surfing, while looking for a job as a nurse.

Sophie and Christian meet once on the beach and while he'd like to ask her out, he just knows he doesn't have the time. Sophie ends up going in for an interview and as irony would have it, the boss falls ill while she's there and she's not only able to help, but it turns out the boss is Christian. As the story progresses and Christian and Sophie get to know one another more, she changes him in ways no one else could. Sure, some of it is from the health scare, but he finally has a reason in his life besides work.

Seeing how these two navigated their relationship was wonderful. They prided themselves on honesty and their communication was good. They wanted to be there for one another regardless what was going on and with both of them having baggage, that's saying something. This was one of those books I didn't want to put down and I applaud Samantha Chase for an awesome book!
  • This book has mild cursing and some vague fade to black sex. If you don't like harsh language and sex, there's nothing to worry about here.

After absolutely *loving* the Band On The Run series I never thought I'd say this but Suddenly Mine might possibly be my favorite Samantha Chase book ever. I was sucked into the story from the very start and I found myself unable to stop thinking about it when I had to put it down to do real life things. I just couldn't shake the story. Christian was a wonderful but flawed book hero, but his flaws were totally understandable and relatable – he wasn't a callous jerk or an alphahole, he was just an imperfect human (that's a compliment!). Sophie was fantastic but also flawed in all the right ways, and I loved the way that these two imperfect people just fit together so utterly perfectly. Even when they weren't together as a couple, their relationship was beautiful and I never doubted that they would find their way back to their happily ever after.

I won't spoil anything, but this book also tugged on my emotions in a way that I wasn't expecting at all. I found myself bawling as I was reading, and although I want to curse Ms. Chase for that, I have to admit that it made this book the amazing story that it was.

Also, Christian's assistant Erin was awesome and I smiled every time I read about her. Well played, Ms. Chase!

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a book that has humor, great chemistry, and all of the feels. You're going to love this story.
